Decenders

ISC D4

D4 descender:

The handle rotates all the way around (360 degrees). You can just keep spinning it round and round.
Its made of thicker aluminum than the Petzl ID, so it is more durable.
The handle and several other parts will be replaceable.
The anti-panic is somewhere between an Petzl ID and a Rig in terms of sensitivity.
Its like a Rig in that it doesnt have a dummy proof mechanism to keep you from loading it backwards.
At this time, ISC is planning to release the D4 descent control device for 11mm, with a 12.5mm coming shortly after.

ISC RED c/w Popper Cord

The RED is a simple, yet highly effective back-up device.

The RED's non-aggressive Cams have a positively locking spring, which means that the device is self-parking (rather than self-tailing, like many Ropegrabs).  This self-parking function is important for Rope Access work techniques as they stipulate that the back-up device should be positioned so as to reduce fall factors to a minimum.

The RED makes use of 'Rotational Braking'- the more the device rotates clockwise, the greater the build up of friction, which provides the automatic braking in the event of a fall or sudden pull on the Cows-tail.

To increase the effectiveness of the Rotational Brake in a panic situation (for example, a main-line failure), this is fitted with a 'Popper' tow cord release clip*.

PETZL ID'L

Self-braking descender with antipanic function 11.5 - 13mm Rope

Designed for rescue: lacks gated attachment hole
Multi-func
tional handle allows the user to :
- unblock the rope and control the descent with the hand on the free end of the rope
- move more easily on horizontal or low-angle terrain, thanks to the button on the handle
- get into position without having to tie off the device
Anti-panic function is engaged if the user pulls too strongly on the handle: brakes and stops the descent automatically
Anti-error safety catch to reduce the risk of an accident due to incorrect installation of the device on the rope. The shap
e of the cam is designed to improve rope glide when ascending
Pivoting cam facilitates taking up the slack in the rope. Can also be used to make a reversible haul system, and for short ascents (in conjunction with a FOOTPRO foot loop and an ASCENSION handled rope clamp)
Lowers heavy loads up to 272 kg (only for expert users; consult the Instructions for Use for the device)
